“C U” @ C9 family! Nobody can recall just how long we’ve been in this spot since it’s changed over the years as the Chiefs have changed up how they do parking, but it’s been more than 15 years. #ChiefsKingdom#ProfessionalTailgaters
Does anyone else do that thing where you have a drawer in your refrigerator full of cheese but every time you go to the store you think you might be out of cheese so you buy more
Lemme get this straight: @BrittanyLynne appeared to “like” an Instagram post by Donald Trump and people acted like she accepted a cabinet position in his administration, then when the media looked into it, her “like” was nowhere to be found, but that didn’t stop people from grouping her in with Harrison Butker’s “women belong at home” statements?
Nevermind the fact that - in addition to being a mom - she is also an entrepreneur, a former professional athlete, and one of the people who helped bring @thekccurrent to #KC. I mean, she’s a part of the ownership group that built the first purpose built stadium for a women’s professional sports team anywhere in the world!
I don’t know if she never liked the post or if she did and then unliked it or if she liked it accidentally or if she liked a single idea in the post and didn’t realize the source or … Heck, if it wasn’t intentional, the outrage sure put her in a spot, because if she’s not trying to comment publicly on politics she can’t respond to the outrage without appearing to pick a side. It’s a LOSE-LOSE!
She doesn’t follow Trump on social. She does follow @JoeBiden and other Democrats (including me, and I’m on this app constantly calling Trump a fascist and singing the praises of @KamalaHarris), as well as some Republicans and mostly sports and pop culture figures. Maybe she agrees with the GOP on some stuff and Dems on other stuff? That would make her like the majority of Americans!
Or maybe a woman in her twenties who grew up in Texas and now lives in Missouri is predisposed toward conservatism. If so, I’d say that’s not exactly shocking. And that would make her a person for dedicated progressives like me to focus on bringing to our side rather than ostracizing and shaming.
If you’re adamant about looking for a clue as to the Mahomes’s politics, you could just as easily rely on the fact that the NFL only stopped vilifying BLM protests when @PatrickMahomes, in the wake of George Floyd’s death, released a recorded statement in support of Black Lives Matter. Remember when he linked arms during the anthem with other players and he was booed? Do you think he did that without the support of his partner? I don’t.
OR the fact that the one time she tweeted about Trump she was critical of him!
But you know what? No matter Brittany’s personal political beliefs, she has thrown herself into being a major contributor to her adopted hometown. The Mahomes family supports tons of charitable causes here. Both Patrick and Brittany. She has stood up for anti-bullying causes, supported the Boys and Girls club, and tons of other great programs here in #KC.
On Thursday night, my party’s nominee told us never to let others tell us who we are, but instead to show the world who we are through our actions.
Brittany Mahomes, like all of us, cannot be understood simply by a single retracted “like.” From her actions, she’s shown my hometown she’s squarely on OUR side.
As long as that’s the case, I’ll be on her side too.
