The European Commission wants to restrict social media for children under 15
A new EU Kids Act would offer tiered access to social networks under parental control. Platforms such as TikTok and AI services would also be required to be safe for children by default.
The push comes amid concern for teenagers’ mental health.
The new rules would not apply to online services operated for education, public authorities, or industrial AI or AI office products.

Attended a meeting with an EU Commission official this week, who admitted that the 'Brussels effect' (the idea that the EU market is so important that the EU can export rules around the globe) was a 'mirage and a mistake'.
But this was the core argument for the EU being so regulation heavy. It's ruined our relationship with the United States, crippled our economy, and saddled our businesses with huge burdens.
And the main benefit - that other countries/blocs would have no option but to follow us, was, whoops a daisy, false!
Its good that the 'mea culpas' are now arriving, but our grandchildren will be paying for this mistake.
