@ryanjespersen 100%. If she feels that she is putting forth questions that Albertans may support, skip the referendum and run on the platform for the now 10 questions. She won’t though because those questions are not what the majority of Albertans support.
A reminder to Albertans who hear Smith claim she’s only giving the 27 percent of Albertans who want to separate so much help because they are a large percentage of Albertans they deserve to be heard:
27-33 percent of Albertans are disabled in some way yet She defunded AISH.
@LukaszukAB@nateglubish My MLA, Dale Nally, also claims he’s not a separatist (despite being on the Rep Party of AB website as supportive). Will be fun to see both of these MLA twist into a pretzel trying to convince their constituents they can in fact be both depending on who they are talking to.
This is the most important, most brilliant, and most well written thing you could read today.
If you’re an Albertan, or a Canadian, and read nothing else, fine. Just read this.
Goodness me. Every word. https://t.co/TliiUbwj6H
Anyone else getting really tired of all that's happening in #ABleg land right now? The controversies, the scandals, the heavy-handedness, the fiscal mismanagement and now bad actors having voter lists? At what point do we stand up for basic morality, decency and accountability?
@DonBraid@BreakenridgeYEG I’m reminded of this little oops courtesy of my MLA, Dale Nally. Filed was closed without reprimand or penalty even though Elections AB acknowledged he inappropriately accessed the voter list. At some point, this kind of brazen behaviour has to stop. https://t.co/XpgiC2Uy58
@JSJamato@JasonOnTheDrums Question is what are the UCP going to do about it? One of their own misused voter rolls and it got little attention: https://t.co/66mKqNUcUe
The headline says that the costs of Trump’s tantrums are “starting to show”. I don’t think Americans get that for Europeans, the Greenland debacle changed everything. It’s over. No one can trust the US. It’s not because of Trump. It’s because we know your system can’t/ won’t stop him or the next guy after him. And also that there’s enough of you who think it would be ‘cool’ to invade just to rub it in our faces. That’s a good enough reason to never trust you again and make everything far more transactional.
@mattgurney Two things jump to mind: 1. I’m not sure our system can handle the strain 2. What does this do to patients currently in the queue already receiving delayed diagnosis. Pure chaos.
@coreyhoganyyc@MondoABx He only wants to limit them when they are on “his team”. If any other government did this, Rob would be screaming from the rooftops. Always moving the goal posts, these guys.
The Notwithstanding Clause is integral to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and an unassailable provincial constitutional right.
Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed insisted it be included to protect the autonomy of provinces to uphold the values and priorities of the people they represent from decisions of activist courts.
In Alberta, we have used it carefully and lawfully to stand up for the parental right to be involved in their children’s lives, to protect children so they can make important health decisions as adults, to ensure fairness in sport, and to keep students learning in the classroom.
We are extremely disappointed that Minister Sean Fraser would risk national unity and a foundational principle of our constitution by attempting to attack the use of the notwithstanding clause by sovereign provincial governments.
