There's good psychology in this Guardian article on how to talk to people who have embraced a conspiracy theory. Most effective tactic is "pre-suasion," which is the intuitionist tactic of speaking to the elephant first, then to the rider:

When I see an introverted person have to act extraverted towards me because of their job (eg a hairdresser making conversation) I just want to hug them and tell them it’s ok, we can do this silently.
"As AI makes its way into more areas of our lives, rooting out implicit bias is more crucial than ever", says USC computer science student Aida Mostafazadeh Davani.

Many basic assumptions and old theories across social and behavioral sciences need re-examination. It may be constructive to be cautious with words like “re-discover”; they can discourage junior researchers from asking big Qs, and implicitly encourage too-cool-to-be-true novelty.
#COVID19 is affecting the future of talented Iranian students who were supposed to land in the US in fall 2020.
These students are unable to attend visa interviews at US embassies in Iran's neighboring countries & urgently need your help.

Exciting new work showing how moral foundations theory does not apply well to understanding Iranian moral values. See the whole thread and paper for how they constructed a model of moral values in Iran. Nice work @MohammadAtari90 !
YES. Cultural contextualization of constructs/ models and within-culture differences are SO important. It is not enough to translate and test a WEIRD idea/model in another culture. Shige Oishi and I wrote about similar things within cultural neuroscience.

Most people are familiar with the "WEIRD" problem in psych. Check out this awesome work from @MohammadAtari90 Jesse Graham @MortezDehghani that does something about it.

In two nationally representative surveys of American adults, masturbation and hookups were not associated with unmarried men wishing to be married, while pornography use was robustly and linearly associated with a *higher* likelihood of wanting to be married.
Hi @ATT! This is the 5th time you gave us a false promise. I've called you 12 times, and spent over 7 hours with you on the phone since Saturday. We need to teach, and we need internet to do that. How long is this going to go on for? @ATTHelp
@SPSPnews is creating a new award called the “International Bridge-Building Award” for researchers from “underrepresented regions of the world”. Good.
BUT an eligibility criterion is being already an “SPSP member”. That’s not how bridges work. This crierion should be waived.
USC has joined an amicus brief strongly supporting the lawsuit recently filed by @MIT and @Harvard – and we are actively considering all other legal options.
I'm willing to do the same at @USC. If you are an international student who needs an in-person class to be able to stay in the US, send me an email. We can get through this together.
