I had a good conversation with Wilco County Judge @S_Snell after today's Bail Bond Board meeting about the path forward for a Medical Examiner for our county by the FY 2027-28 budget. Over the past couple of years the JPs have come to realize that the issue is much bigger than just Williamson County and a population trigger.
Speaker @Burrows4TX declared an Interim Committee charge for the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee / Subcommittee on County and Regional Government to investigate expansion of the Texas Medical Examiner system statewide. I look forward to working with area Reps. @SherylCole1 and @ErinForYall who sit on the committee and subcommittee.
Your WilCo Justices of the Peace are out there making Good Trouble.
Anyone ever seen interstate-induced clouds before? Low level CU developed perfectly along major interstates around Houston this morning. Kind of shocking to see such perfectly lined up clouds. #txwx
Today I shared a plant and letter with each member of my staff. Each of us is unique in what we bring to our JP1 collective garden. In the coming weeks I’ll share versions that require watering as a reminder of the growth that lies ahead of us.
Today is the last day to vote early in the TX Primary Runoffs. Polls close at 7pm. Election Day is next Tuesday: 7am-7pm at ANY voting location in WilCo. #txlege
I'm excited to share the news that reconstruction of our lobby and teller windows will begin later this summer as budgeted! This will help us comply with recommendations from the Office of Court Administration on our journy to earning a Center of Excellent designation.
I'm one of the few City of Austin residents that gets to vote in the Pedernales Electric Co-operative District 3 election. Ballot cast. Tomorrow I'll vote in the TX Democratic primary run-off.
Only 1 week of Early Voting in this election so Friday is the last day. Next Tuesday, May 26th is Election Day.

During the Jester Annex HVAC repairs, JP1 will be closed to in person service May 28-June 12th. We will be available remotely by phone 513-244-8622 or email at [email protected]. Or come use our dropbox at the northwest corner of our building!
@_fat_ugly_rat_ There's the littlest bit of juice from Rep. Goodwin being in a statewide runoff, a squeeze from the SBOE 5 runoff, but really the HD49 state rep runoff should be providing most of the Mojo. And still outvoting the Travis GOP 2-1.
I can’t wait to get rid of this hose.
Long awaited HVAC repairs are coming to the Jester Annex building. Due to this, JP1 will be closed to in person service May 28-June 12th. We will be available remotely by phone 513-244-8622 or email at [email protected].

With 7.5 years of wear, it was time for a new robe. And some new goals for the next 4.5 years.
This next term I’m working for the hiring of a WilCo Medial Examiner and then the buildout of their office. It’s more than an 8 year old campaign pledge- It’s a long overdue necessity that benefits every single one of our 720,000+ residents.
I’m working to complete much needed lobby and security upgrades to the JP1 court which should be completed this next fiscal year. The money has already been approved once- it’s time to spend it.
These are both parts of a third goal- to establish JP1 as a Center of Excellence this term, making Williamson County to first county in Texas to have 3 JP courts with this designation.
More to come. Let’s get it done.
