Rohith Vemula case exposed the casteism prevalent in educational system but in Sahil's case the whole society got exposed.

IIT Bombay took the life of an exceptionally bright student, Sahil Wakode. Today, Samyak Vidyarthi Andolan, the student organisation of @VBAforIndia protested at the IIT Bombay main gate.

After Sahil Wakode’s institutional murder, IIT Bombay launched a large-scale character assassination. Without evidence, it ran a media trial. Savarna media across the country, professors, self-styled intellectuals, and political parties took lead. This same pattern appears in institutional murders across India.

Sahil’s friends and peers raised their voice for justice. Many of them sat in protest on campus. We met them and reassured them that we are with them in this fight.

Our delegation also met the IIT Bombay administration and demanded answers. We told them to publicly apologise for spreading completely false and misleading information about Sahil Wakode.

Our demands, along woth list of 18 demands made by students include:
1. To not harass, now or in the future, the students who exposed Sahil’s murder.
2. To declare how many professors positions for SC/STs are vacant and to fill them up immediately.
3. To have a counselling and sensitivity training for faculty on handling cases of caste discrimination affecting mental health.
4. To make IIT Bombay a 100% caste free campus where no incidents of casteism or caste discrimination takes place.

Until Sahil Wakode gets justice, this fight will continue.
