Suicide or Love Jihad?

A 21-year-old Nandini Bosmiya died mysteriously in Rajkot after being in a live-in relationship with a man named Aslam.

Reports claim that she committed suicide, with her last note being, “Papa, I am fed up with this life.”

She used to live with Aslam, a married man, in a live-in relationship. Aslam was already married to a co-religionist and also had a son. Despite opposition from the family, Nandini was living with Aslam in a rented flat in Rajkot.

Nandini’s family claims that she was being tortured by her family as well as by Aslam.

Her sister claims that Aslam kept her jewellery in the bank for money. She also claims that Aslam made her abort the child forcibly and get her operated.

Nandini was associated with AAP.

It is ironic to witness the outrage concerning the BJP government’s decision in West Bengal to provide nutritious meals to students through the Mid-Day Meal scheme. Instead of fixating on the menu, critics should consider the deteriorating state of education under Mamata Banerjee’s administration.

A recent reality check reveals concerning statistics:

• Nearly 10 lakh fewer students participated in the PM-POSHAN scheme in 2025-26 compared to 2023-24.

• According to the latest Programme Approval Board minutes, over 40% of enrolled students did not access the scheme in 2024-25 across 15 districts in West Bengal.

• In Cooch Behar, coverage dropped to a startling 46%, the lowest in the state.

These figures highlight more than just numbers; they signal a troubling rise in school dropouts and a worsening education crisis under the Trinamool Congress.

Those who remained silent while lakhs of children were left off the Mid-Day Meal rolls have little moral standing to speak on student welfare. The people of West Bengal have entrusted the BJP with governance; let it determine the best way to improve nutrition as well as educational outcomes for the children in the state.

There is no need for sermons from opportunists who ignored the collapse of the very system they now claim to defend.
