Today we went out for a pizza dinner for the very first time as a family. Mom, the wife, the kid, and me. Missing was my father who passed away a month back. He hated pizza. We could never have had pizza if out for dinner with him. Who knew grief could taste like pizza?

Today as she holds me in a daze with stories about him and his life, can't help but think what a stud muffin dad was. Her stories make him real and they ease the pain of his passing somewhat. I listen in rapture about a man who had more than the facet of being mere father to me.

My mother broke down when we were close to a Bata shop yesterday. Apparently it was the site of one of my dad's last purchases for her. She bought these (see pic) in a rush because they fit and because my dad was too sick by then to be standing around for too long.

He however was adamant on getting her some slippers because winter was here and she complained of cold feet. When she bought these, he teased her about it, knowing this wasn't her vibe. Heck, I'd have teased her about it as per the usual.
