either the free tier is too generous or the product is not worth 5 dollars yet.
you have done this before. which is it.
700 people tag 40,000 games a year.
this is what the tracking looks like. every player boxed, searchable by play. 18 hour turnaround per game.
the tracking took months. scheduling 700 people took longer.

mickey mouse was drawn by a man who had watched a lot of oswald the lucky rabbit.
for centuries artists have been using data for ideation in the name of inspiration. every character we love is inspiration stacked on inspiration. the studios know this. the artists know this. it’s the whole history of the form.
what changed is what we call it. in the ai world it’s called training on data.
so here’s the thing about disney v. midjourney (btw @CooleyLLP & @RobCorwin for the win)
the tool did democratise the making. it genuinely did. the barrier moved. but it’s not just simple type and enter. the effort moved to taste, imagination and more importantly knowing what not to make.
and honestly, for disney this was never about fair use or artists getting their credit. if it were, they wouldn’t have licensed 200+ characters to openai for sora, taken equity, and pointed the output straight at disney+.
midjourney just democratised that fair use of technology, with the model doing the heavy lifting on “inspiration of inspiration”
this is part 1 of 3 part series where we breakdown midjourney v disney case.
