Sometimes I wonder what it must have been like to see classic musicals for the first time.
Today I'm wondering that about Sunday in The Park With George.
Imagine being out having a nice time on Broadway in 1984 then that happens. Incredible.
Without question my favourite of these films by some margin, switching gears quite daringly. The usual Benoit Blanc whodunnit stuff is enjoyable, but what makes this great is Josh O’Connor’s Father Jud, and its thoughtful, powerful examination of communal faith. Phenomenal stuff.
I think one of our problems in this world is the loss of romance. The romance of nature, of beauty, of wonder, of poetry, of writing letters infused with the delicate intricacies of the heart.
