The regime crushed them with arrests and beatings.

Hundreds are still locked up just for wanting a normal life.

Rubio dropped a strong reminder: Trump’s team wants real change for the Cuban people, opportunity, dignity, and no more hosting enemies 90 miles from our shores.

Time to pressure the regime hard for actual reforms.

Five years ago today, the Cuban people filled the streets and demanded freedom.

The regime answered with batons, prison cells, show trials, and fear.

Today, more than 800 political prisoners remain behind bars: artists, rappers, poets, fathers, daughters, brothers.

They dared to say what millions know: Cuba deserves to be free.

Today marks five years since the Communist Cuban regime brutally suppressed the peaceful July 11 demonstrations and yet again silenced Cubans’ cries for basic rights, dignity, and opportunity. To this day, hundreds of Cubans remain unjustly detained, suffering brutal conditions, for the simple sin of asking why Cubans cannot freely own businesses, participate in the political process, or provide for themselves and their families. The regime must release these political prisoners immediately.

President Trump and I want a better future for Cuba, in which Cubans have greater opportunity, freedom, dignity, and Cuba ceases to harbor hostile foreign military, intelligence, terror, and subversive operations 90 miles from the American homeland. My activities are still very limited at the moment. I have been doing some writing, however–thank God.

I'm so relieved to be once again doing something creative and useful.

I have also been watching Professor Paul Kengor's The Dark Side of Marxism from @petersonacademy.  

It does not feature the Marx portrayed by the woke university socialist acolytes (to put it mildly).

I interviewed @DrPaulKengor a year ago or so ago on my podcast. He's a truly engaging, creative and witty storyteller and lecturer.

It turns out that Old Karl was quite the satanic soul.

He was a parasite economically all his life, extorting continual support from his long-suffering relatives.

He wrote (and admired) purposefully demonic poetry and drama.

Most disturbing, however, was his choice of favorite quote. From Goethe's Faust, it's a line I have quoted many times, in consequence of its sheer existential horror.

It's Mephistopheles presenting his identity and central credo:

“I am the Spirit that endlessly denies!
And rightly, too; for all that comes to birth
Is fit for overthrow, as nothing worth;
Wherefore the world were better sterilized;
Thus all that's here as Evil recognized
Is gain to me, and downfall, ruin, sin.
