@Mels_desires @butchnbutcher It’s just healthy to diversify when it comes to reading, writing, and storytelling. Even with book-exclusive readers, if someone is only reading within one genre or subject, I’d recommend trying something new one every once in a while. It’s like stretching or anatomy practice.

Also, I meant that it’s good to supplement your fanfic reading with other kinds of writing, not that fanfic is supplementary.

@ateliermerry @SSEUNGBINS Yeah, people are getting way too fixated on the fanfic vs traditional publishing argument, when really the answer is that diversifying your reading (regardless of source) will vastly improve your comprehension skills. Tradpub is the easiest way to do that, but not the only way.

They exist lol I pretty much only read books by minorities and it’s not even intentional anymore. I’ve just curated my feed and interests to highlight those kinds of authors over the years.
