@JohnBogleyDC@Boenau At what age did you start to note the lack of hotels and think "wow, you could really drive at a higher speed than 70 here without problems?"
@JohnBogleyDC@Boenau I like the way that even though you were only a young child you somehow knew that the road your mother was driving on had a speed limit of 70 and you could also, despite the meningitis, assess that it was safe to drive higher than 70 on this road.
@GordNordog@but_cyclists Problem is that drivers that are 70+ have too slow a reaction time to be driving, there's quite a small window of being able to drive responsibly.
@ambivulant@carlafrancome No, it's just you're not making much sense. I'm not sure how you mean that car drivers generate tax revenue if it's not by spending more money.
@ambivulant@carlafrancome Yes exactly, the differences being a) the lack of imminent death in the horse and cart scenario due to lower speeds and weight of vehicle and b) the amount of traffic.
@ambivulant@carlafrancome I wasn't around in horse and cart days but I'm guessing the children playing in the street got out of the way of them when they came past, what do you think?
@seatsixtyone They say on their website that they're planning to connect 100 European cities by 2035. It feels a bit hard to take seriously, reminds me of Midnight Trains.
