Limiting global warming to 1.5°C is slipping out of reach, according to the latest report by the @wef Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, where our CEO Ester Baiget is Co-Chair.

The report highlights the urgency for all leaders, governments and #COP28 participants to step up actions across sectors and countries. To stay on the path towards 1.5°C, it is necessary to achieve a 7% annual emissions reduction until 2030, against the current trend of a 1.5% annual increase. The report also shows that fewer than 20% of the world’s top 1,000 companies have set 1.5°C science-based targets.

The good news is that many of the solutions we need to accelerate the green transition already exist today. Biosolutions such as microbes, enzymes and other proteins are nature’s own technologies and part of the answer to feeding and fueling the world more sustainably.

The University of Copenhagen has opened a new two-year MSc. programme in biosolutions for students who are motivated to find biological answers to the world’s problems.

The new master's degree programme will begin in September 2024 in Kalundborg, Denmark, and it will provide students with a solid understanding of sustainable solutions and technologies for the bio-based products of the future.

The students will become the future experts in bio-based systems for industrial processes and learn about areas like industrial microorganisms, raw materials, fermentation, enzymes, data analysis, process analytical technologies, product quality and functionality, and by-products.
