@Saueia@alexrmoskowitz I met Stuart Murdoch & Isobel Campbell in front of Nice N Sleazys in Glasgow while on vacation in 2000, they invited me to go along to a party at the Art College but I had a ticket for the Beta Band. Stuart then acted out that scene from Hi Fidelity (which Isobel hadn't seen yet
I can't make out the 1st line but the holiday jingle this year at work is something like "the gingerbread house is a broken shack, the walls are covered in cookie dough", the last line might be "buy yourself a bag of oreos". I think it's my new favorite holiday song...
@EA_guitar@Immeasurables4@ThatEricAlper Sting in Brimstone & Treacle (I haven't seen it for years & wouldn't want to watch it again but he was brilliantly creepy), he was also great in Quadrophenia
@PoP_NovaScotia Still waiting for confirmed availability date of updated vaccine, Oct 16 is anticipated date of fall vaccine program in NS (announcement should be soon & then clinics will go "live" for booking)
@cpechous @ArielDumas I was visiting NYC a few summers ago & was walking near the Strand bookstore, it had just started raining & a man asked if I wanted to share his umbrella. I declined (it was a warm light rain & a really hot day), he called me an asshole and walked away
@katynotie You can ask at a pharmacy & you might get 1 for free (I usually give them out if someone has a toothache or needs a cold pack) but they might be too big for what you need (we get fifty million every day with insulin delivery)
@jessrawk@jayfournier The only way I could "transfer" my Montreal Cure ticket was by giving a trusted friend my ticketmaster login info (it's so hard to get tickets to anything now & even harder to get flights & time off work, my days travelling for shows might just be over)
@jrmamana@lfitzmaurice Unsolicited corporate training video soundtrack (am glad he name checked the place he worked to avert thedanger of this being added to every grocery store playlist)
@Variety Will always remember someome asking his father at a Putney Swope Criterion screening (at ATP Ashbury Park) about Iron Man, the room went silent & Robert Downey Sr said "my son knows how I feel about Iron Man"
@adamm0rgan @BCDreyer @ZabarsIsNY Love all of these, Brooklyn Bridge at sunset is magic. Want to revisit the highline & see the new section & The Shed. I did a West Village food tour that was excellent (& a bar tour that was cash only & a bit of a rip off). I recommend The Cloisters if you've never been
@DrownedinSound Sebadoh in Cinncinati 2019 at the Woodward theatre, capacity 600 but maybe 40 people there? (they were still great) I was at a show in Feb in Halifax (local synthpop acts) with only 9 people in attendance & it was the most fun I've had in a while (everyone there was %100 into it)
@NS_scooke @morethanbuses After scotia sq lawton's closes the convenience store on Barrington St (LA Smith) sells single tickets. I found that out 1 time after realizing I was out & had no cash just before getting the ferry home & ended up wandering downtown Halifax for over an hour looking for tickets
@LimneticV@dawsonyassen @ACNewman Even if the venue gets a cut it's still a ridiculous amount of money (only limited by the amount of merch available, am not sure if they have local suppliers for local markets but it would be cheaper than shipping from Austrailia). Does anyone have an actual #?
@LimneticV@dawsonyassen @ACNewman I'm actually just guessing (based on the few times I've seen them & merch discussions in facebook groups), 5000 people attend & the average spend is $75 (some people buy shirts to bring home to friends who can't go, some people won't buy anything, but most buy something)
