I honestly don’t know how to interpret a study where 15% of the control group received no therapy.
And there is no subgroup analysis excluding these patients?
I guess given increased risk of ischemic stroke & no difference in overall NIHSS, maybe a neutral study ??? 🤷♂️ (1/2)
1/ Right, ANNEXA-I has dropped. The 1st ever RCT of a reversal agent for DOACs. Randomised patients with intracranial hemorrhage to andexanet alfa or usual care. Stopped early as it met its primary endpoint.
There are A LOT of talking points - LET'S GO! https://t.co/A3VN8SO7EV
In the supplemental PDF on this study they share the algorithm used for coag-negative staph blood culture stewardship. Solid, logical thinking, laying out pathways for clinicians & pharmacists to decide on next steps for testing and therapy

@reverendofdoubt I'm flabbergasted by what I'm reading lately. The interpretation by so many is flawed to a point of concern.
I'll say it again... if ppl truly believe propofol and etomidate are undoubtedly increasing mortality, then they should be making systematic changes to remove them.
Why is no one talking about this 🤯🤯. ANNEXA-S trial looking at use of andexanet alfa for pts on FXai prior to urgent surgery was silently stopped per manufacturer "due to the limited value as a single-arm study". Meanwhile with an n=10, we see 70% serious ADEs 👀👀
UCSF/ZSFG Emergency Medicine residents have organized a program to allow patients to vote while in the ER, even those on 5150/5250 holds. The program gets the ballot to the pt's bedside, assists them in completing it (if needed) & an on-site secure ballotbox was procured
Amazing

I was sitting down doing some work in a quiet area at Grady one day and this little girl, who was with her grandma, walked right up to me and touched my stethoscope.
Her: “Are you a doctor?”
Me: “I sure am.”
Her: “For real?”
Me: “For real!”
I handed her my stethoscope.
A year ago, a non-academic friend listened to a talk I gave. I thought it went great. My friend disagreed.
She said that academics are experts at making interesting stuff boring—and that we should all take a speech class.
So I did. And here are 6 most useful things I learned.
Rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) interpretation can be broken down into 3 simple questions, How fast are clots forming? How strong are the clots?and How long until clots breakdown?
