"When you are in hospital, you are totally powerless."
Merope Mills, whose 13-year-old daughter Martha died two years ago, tells @MishalHusain why she wants 'Martha's rule', a right to a second opinion on patient care, implemented in hospitals around the country.

@Anna90523382 It took me a long time to get used to it - it would jam or alarm a lot at first. Iโve always had tubes so didnโt notice the algorithm change. I have had 2 replacement pumps in 3 years because of faults. That said, it is sleek, fairly small and more up to date than Medtronic
@Anna90523382 Thatโs interesting - Iโve always had pumps with tubes (had Medtronic before the TSlim) and was wondering about a pod - although Iโve got used to moving the pump around - sometimes carry it in my bra, sometimes in a pocket. Let me know if you have any questions on the T-Slim
@diabetes_chat Yes! Thatโs how they taught us when I was diagnosed. Injected an #orange so many times when I was learning how to inject myself, aged 9, that all the liquid squirted out of previous holes in the orange :D #type1
๐ฆ Yes! A lovely and very rare sighting :) #type1#inrange for #24hours (- the longer I live with it, the harder it is to maintain. Like a washing machine or a boyfriend- or, well, anything really) #t1d for almost 45 years ;)
@Anna90523382 Yes thank you - itโs all part of the deal isnโt it? I had a fun (slightly soggy) time. Walked to the #summerexhibition@royalacademy this morning. Needed dextrose there too - donโt tell anyone or theyโll think Iโm a rubbish diabetic ;). Back home now from my solo adventures.
@Anna90523382 Arrived in London at 6pm last night and thought it would be a good idea to walk from Waterloo to Maida Vale.. went hypo at Piccadilly which was surreal because there were Glow Taxis lit with fairy lights everywhere (google them if youโve not seen them). ๐
The lovely Millie today @WholeFoodsUK offering samples of delicious @nibsetc - a new kind of #granola made from #apple pulp - delicious and relatively #lowcarb so those of us with #type1diabetes can consume without post breakfast blood glucose spikes! Yum x
@AngieRogers131 It shows how quickly we rely on technology. I was diagnosed in the โ70โs - before blood glucose testing was a thing. Only urine testing in a test-tube then which was less than useless. I guess we have to see the app failure as a bump in the road #type1diabetes#stayingalive :)
This happened to me and it was very scary. #Type1#diabetes for 45 years. I live alone and have poor #hypoawareness. I rely totally on my iPhone app alerts to keep me conscious. My #abbott#libre reader has broken hence 23 finger prick tests yesterday. https://t.co/2xSx0gVVP3
