@MK_Ultragoy@forza__777 That's just not true. We are multicultural. Have been since European settlement. It works, not easily or always, but it works. We are one of the wealthiest, most peaceful and culturally diverse nations on earth.
@OMGTheMess Universal free, quality childcare would give people real choice. No one would be forced to use it. When we privatise care (aged care, medical care, disability) dollars will always come first.
@KobieThatcher Michelle Obama travels with her own secret service people so needed minimal police protection. Her visit was quiet and not controversial. Farage lobbed in with no security and an extremely inflammatory agenda that necessitated a big police presence. Fair enough he was charged.
@Ryandally08 Until there's a better option, I'll continue to vote Labor. I believe they are genuinely committed to the very difficult job of governing and actually trying to solve - rather than just bleat about - very real problems.
@realRick_AUS When men could rape their wives without consequence, women could not have credit cards, few girls finished year 12, gay people hid in the shadows and disabled people were put in institutions. Sounds great.
@Blue_New_Black@GS86039935@australian So you catch users? Presumably you eat out? Get food delivered? Are you signing up yourself or your kids for that work?
Great interview with @JaneCaro about her book 'Rich Kid Poor Kid' - what happened to public education in Australia and how we can try to fix it #auspol#education https://t.co/FSr66hXTsX
@PukeMrs@australian Education is one of Australia's most lucrative 'exports'. Overseas students pay top dollar with no access to HECS. Working holidaymakers vital to farms and tourism. If they go (and there are plenty of other countries who will welcome them), who will do that work?
@Blue_New_Black@GS86039935@australian We do need IT people as well as doctors, nurses, aged care workers, engineers and tradespeople. We have only 4 taxpayers for each retired person now.
@Whitsome20@australian A lot of the Uber drivers have qualifications (medicine, engineering etc) and are studying for Australian certifications to practice. Also, there is a minuscule numbers of BA students these days which is a tragedy we will pay for later.
