@MarcJBryant hey, do you know where there’s any guidance on how to talk about surviving suicide or how best to cope &/or support someone after a crisis? Looking for help that is safe and responsible for everyone involved x
@OpenMindMH Once had a nurse joke about putting on too much weight that we will exceed the weight limit of the lift used to take us up to the weigh in “careful girls”
@doctor_chuks When we don’t internalise fat phobia and glorify thinness. When we acknowledge and respect the factors that play in to people wanting to be safer more than they want to be alive.
@doctor_chuks Emphasis on self-responsibility seems like an opportunity for clinicians to let stereotypes and misunderstandings lead the way in early recovery which definitely doesn’t equate to positive outcomes
Lockdown is hard for everyone
But if it stops you from earning, if it increases your risk of domestic violence, if it worsens depression and mental health, if it questions your reason for living, then lockdown is an existential crisis and not just an inconvenience #lockdown6
@JedidiahEvans I don’t doubt it! I still reminisce about your classes, thanks for being a good teacher, lots of transferable skills for parenting I imagine!
@JedidiahEvans Aw congratulations that’s amazing, I hope you’re all doing well! The Mars room was great, Idaho by Emily Ruskovich is good if the baby is a good sleeper and will let you invest!
@PatMcGorry What if you can do more than one thing at a time. We can’t keep letting the dust settle on research while treatment continues with the onus on the individual to “comply”
@ChristineJByrne In my PhD thesis I wrote a whole section on treatment burden of HAES vs weight loss efforts. Weight centric peeps assume non-diet is removal of effort, when in fact it’s a highly effortfull process requiring huge amounts of intellectual and embodied learning. Bravery required!
@StuffThatWorks1 Please moderate the eating disorder boards, there are very triggering and concerning posts being shared - you’ve placed yourself in a position of building understanding the illness you have a responsibility of providing safe spaces for those contributing
