“I swore never to be silent wherever and whenever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ~Elie Wiesel

There's no difference between spanking, leaving visible injuries, or sexual abuse. All 3 are types of violations against the body are toxic stress. Each type of violence triggers the EXACT SAME neuro-chemical responses in the body. And all 3 harm the developing brain.

Maybe you're not in an abusive marriage, and you love the preaching at your church and your friends.
By going to a church that mishandles abuse, though, you are increasing that church's reach and power.
It may not hurt you. But by supporting it, you may be hurting others.
@annaelizabeth23 I will kindly remind you that one of us was born exactly on schedule, and one of us was late for our due date. Which one of us was late, Anna? Hmmm?

In summary:
(1) Family time is limited—cherish it.
(2) Friend time is limited—prioritize real ones.
(3) Partner time is significant—never settle.
(4) Children time is precious—be present.
(5) Coworker time is significant—find energy.
(6) Alone time is highest—love yourself.
I’m further realizing that considering I also love Muppet Christmas Carol, it might be that I can’t handle “classic” literature written by boring white guys unless Gonzo and Rizzo are holding my hand through the whole thing…
Ever have a favourite movie that takes you by surprise? The amount of times I remember that Muppet Treasure Island exists and choose to watch it… it’s just every time.
