There was a lot of academic discussion this time 3 years ago about equity. As equity is a core issue driving the UAW 4121 postdoc/RSE bargaining demands, it would be great to hear from the DEI committees at UW about why they either do or do not support their striking employees
I hope those feeling frustrated by losing their researchers for a day, or two, or three recognize the essential role those researchers play in keeping operations afloat and use their greater positions of power to advocate for their people
I stand in support of the UW Postdocs and Research Scientists who are on strike as of today (and wow do I wish the grad students/ASEs were bargaining this year too)
And I think when the cost exceeds the opportunity, it is the challenge of this generation of administrators to find a path to keep moving forward rather than trying to wait out the economy
The outdoors are for everyone.
"Well, yeah, of course," some might say.
But when you're someone grappling with feeling "different," when you don't feel safe to be completely yourself at home, at work, in your community - the outdoors provides refuge...
I want to highlight a couple big findings in the new RECOVER #LongCovid paper (aside from the definition) that may be missed!
