Last week in Indianapolis, we joined the Skilled Careers Coalition, @SkillsUSA and @IvyTechCC for The Toolbelt Generation — bringing together Indiana leaders, students, and TikTok creators to explore how Gen Z is discovering careers in the skilled trades through TikTok. 🔨
Together, we discussed new ways to close the skilled trades gap and spotlighted the creativity, passion, and purpose driving the next generation of tradespeople.
Thank you to Dr. Marty Pollio, JJ Owen, Stephanie Bothun, and all the creators and students who made this inspiring event possible. #ToolbeltGeneration #SkilledTrades

TikTok released an economic impact report claiming it drove $14.7 billion in revenue in a dozen key sectors in the US economy and contributed $24.2 billion to overall GDP in 2023. https://t.co/pSeaM94dfh
Our Head of Trust & Safety for U.S. Data Security @suzyloftus has dedicated her career to building safety and it’s her job to build it on TikTok. We’ve taken unprecedented steps to secure protected U.S. user data, spent more than $2 billion keeping TikTok safe, and have an American company storing U.S. user data.
Our statement on today's House vote: This process was secret and the bill was jammed through for one reason: it's a ban. We are hopeful that the Senate will consider the facts, listen to their constituents, and realize the impact on the economy, 7 million small businesses, and the 170 million Americans who use our service.
We've shared more about our ongoing work to protect election integrity on TikTok in 2024, and are teaming up with @demworksinc to launch our US Election Center and provide 150M+ US community members with reliable voting information. Learn more👇 https://t.co/c6FOz6ICLz
We are pleased the judge rejected this unconstitutional law and hundreds of thousands of Montanans can continue to express themselves, earn a living, and find community on TikTok.
Respectfully, @RepBuddyCarter, let's be clear on the facts:
1. 60% of TikTok's parent company is owned by global investors, 20% by our company's founders, with the remaining 20% owned by our employees - including thousands of Americans.
2. Our recommendation algorithm does not "promote" one side of an issue over another and we have rigorous measures in place to prevent manipulation - by any entity.
3. Hateful ideologies, including antisemitism, are not and have never been allowed on our platform. From October 7 to November 17, we removed more than 1,164,000 videos in the conflict region for breaking our rules, including content promoting Hamas, hate speech, terrorism and misinformation.
We can have different opinions, but no one is entitled to their own set of facts.
Does anyone remember the NyQuil Chicken Challenge? It only got attention after the media created a moral panic.
As @broderick notes, the thread below and media attention drove people to engage with these hashtags. From 11/14 - 15 (before tweets and media coverage) the hashtag #lettertoamerica had 274 video posts and 1.85M total video views - moving to ~13M views after tweets/press stories. We've since removed the hashtag.
More context and perspective: during a recent 24 hour period, these were video views of some high performing hashtags: #travel at 137,011,985, #skincare at 252,103,826, #film at 319,621,738, #Anime at 611,003,983, and #GymTok at 200,218,084. This is not a trend.
