Why do we need "individual action" when what we REALLY need is "systems change?" Let's break it down ๐
ALL change requires a human (usually many humans) to change behavior, take an action, or make a decision different from what they were doing before.
@ronrule Uncomfortable truth - children are a public good, not a private property. We all rely on them to turn out well and they all rely on us collectively.
@ronrule However lots of people would take the money as a perk and let their kids flounder. Economic incentives donโt always stimulate ideal results.
In Australia, financial support of new mothers unfortunately has lead to an outbreak of teen pregnancies to get the โbaby bonus.โ
Itโs crazy how the bad corporate guy, Burke, in Aliens looks near-identical to Sam Altman, and the truck Ripley saves the crew in is a big cybertruck.
@KirstieMAllsopp Furthermore, why do people care so much about OTHER women's births? There are all these women who get evangelical trying to push their "natural" ideology onto others. Worry about your own fetus.
@KirstieMAllsopp Nothing gives me peace of mind in pregnancy like knowing there are multiple proven high IQ people with 10 years of gruelling medical schooling, experience with 100+ live births during residency + a $100m medical facility with all the tech to keep me and my baby safe.
I'm so sick of getting abused by men.
I live a fairly quiet and polite life, yet the entitlement of men to write or yell abusive things to me on the street amazes me - and although women can be cruel sometimes, too, it's easily 90% from men.
Good manners go a long way.
@WAPolicyGreen The left has always been against outsourced manufacturing to China with its poor environmental standards, coal power stations - and the enabling of cheap mass consumer goods.
Pro tip: If you donโt buy a f* ton of stuff, nor build a career from making it, the tariffs donโt affect you so much.
If you think of tariffs as a tax on over-consumption, it hits different.
