Our dude is ballin’ at the next level. Reporter Marty Cesario (@martycesario) confirmed that Jace Bellah (@jacebellah4) currently leads all of Division I FBS football in interceptions per game. Jace has grabbed 4 INTs in his last 4 games. He is also currently 5th on the team with 29 total tackles.

The Colorado State (@CSUFootball) walk-on is the definition of Southside toughness, knowing what it means to remain humble and continue working hard. We could not be more proud of Jace and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in these final few games.

The Rams are back in action Saturday against New Mexico.

We want to take a moment to congratulate our own Coach Ted Hernandez on being elected as the District 3 representative for Pueblo City Council.

Coach Ted’s love for others shines brightly as he leads and mentors the young men of our program every single day and prepares them for life beyond football in the process. But it is who Coach Ted is when he takes The Shoe off that we admire the most. Coach Ted has a heart for others that is unmatched. He is proof of a rose grown from the concrete with the understanding that there is never a moment in life where we can be satisfied because the job is never finished. There is always more to be done, more opportunities to serve, more chances to make the people around you better. There is no mountain top, only the journey to find more mountains to climb.

We cannot wait to see what is in store for our community with Coach Ted in leadership and we are confident that the future of Pueblo is in great hands. Thank you for everything you do for us today and every day and we are so proud and humbled to share you with others as you embark on this new journey.

Still fighting, there was one last phase to get to the mountaintop. 94 yards. One timeout. In the pouring rain.

We knew it was going to take every single one of us. From the players, to the coaches, to the crowd, there was never a doubt. The feeling started to become more clear as the ball was snapped: we were going to do this.

We never lead in regulation. After scoring the touchdown we needed with no time left on the clock, still down one point, there was only one choice: we were going for a two point conversion to win it all.

The moment felt much longer than it probably really was. Time slowed down. The crowd was insane and still, it felt like it was completely silent. From the release of the ball to the moment of celebration, time stood still. And then…fireworks.

The chance to write the storybook ending could only be described in one way: poetry.

We knew we were never going to get this moment back, next year, this team will look completely different.

The decision was easy. Now. Win. Stand tall. Together.

Delayed but not denied.

In what was quite possibly the greatest ending to a football game we have ever seen, we are still living a dream today.

After an hour and a half long lightning delay, rain for most of the game and no points scored by us in the first 3 quarters, we scored 22 points in the 4th to secure the 50th Cannon game and Coach Goddard’s (@CoachRGoddard) 100th win.

How did we seal the deal? By going for 2. Win or go home without our cannon. Caeden Herrera (@CaedenHerrera) hits Namon Robinson (@namon_robinson) and we watch a 17 year old kid will his way into the end zone. The amount of ways this moment almost wasn’t until it was.

We could have given up after every bit of adversity we faced. But last night was one of life’s greatest teachers: just because your successes are delayed, does not mean they are being denied.

Southside forever.

We wanted to take time out of our regularly scheduled program to give a big shoutout to Class of 2023 Pueblo South graduate Justin Arellano (@jbarellano06) on his success at the college level.

Arellano has become a staple of the bullpen at Adams State (@AdamsstateB) for coach Bruce DelTondo (@BruceDelTondo) in his sophomore season.

Against UCCS, he earned his first win and first save with a 0.151 era through 13.2 innings through the UCCS series. His performance that weekend earned him an RMAC Pitcher of the Week Nomination and honorable mention.

Adams State will take on CSU-Pueblo at Pack the Park at Runyon on Friday, April 25th, with the series finishing up at Rawlings the following two days. We encourage everyone to get out and support Justin as he and the Grizzlies take on the hometown Thunderwolves. We will post reminders as the weekend’s events get closer.

Congratulations on a solid outing, Justin. We are incredibly proud of you and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for you. Keep chasing greatness.
