@IanDunt@john_lichfield Can I just say that you were very right about calling a world cloud a Wordle! π There used to be a Wordle. Net where you could create word clouds called 'wordles'.
I am NOT a technical ancient linguist. But I do find it a bit odd that the BBC news is saying omicron with the stress on the first syllable. @BBCRadio4
@lanegreene@garrett_wollman Hungarian doesn't have 143 cases - that number was invented to scare! (They are affixes with a swirl of vowel harmonisation on top to make it fun.) Both HU and FI are much easier to pronounce and spell than EN. No weird intonation stuff either.
@lanegreene@MartinKocanda As a daughter of someone who's spent his life in/around football I've never enjoyed going to matches. As I child I learnt to recoil from the abusive language on the stands. I felt a bit out of place too. As you say, it was mostly a very male space.
@MartinKocanda@lanegreene That very much depends on the country. A friend's friend pointed out how different Dutch supporters (families with kids and people just generally enjoying themselves) vs Hungarian ones. International football gets an extra dimension though.
