"I would say muscle strains are the most common injury I see, specifically in the low back," says Kat Miller, our ATC at Gardner Edgerton High School. "Make sure to pay attention to form any time we are active or lifting and take time to stretch and get a good recovery." #NATM2026

Not much worse than the realization the season is over. So proud of this group and the season they had. Blazer soccer has been marked on the map and this Senior class is a big reason why. Thank you players, coaches and parents. We will be back stronger than ever next season.
For those high schools in California that still don’t have an athletic trainer, what happened last week at San Clemente High is another reason why ATs are so valuable for safety reasons. Last Thursday, soccer practice was ending when an assistant coach suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Athletic trainer Amber Anaya, BS, ATC received an emergency alert, raced to the field with her AED in under two minutes and helped administer a shock – sustaining the coach until paramedics arrived. Thanks to her presence and training, the coach survived. Because an AT was on staff, a life was saved.
This story shows exactly why having athletic trainers on staff is nonnegotiable. To our entire AT community: your expertise doesn’t just keep athletes healthy – it protects entire school communities in the most critical moments. Thank you to every AT who is prepared, skilled and ready when seconds matter. 💙
