FATAL ACCIDENT IN LWERA SWAMP, KALUNGU DISTRICT

@KasiryeTwa256 || In the night of 03 August, 2026 at around 2300hrs , we registered a fatal road crash in Lwera Swamp, Kamunga Trading Centre, along the Kampala–Masaka Highway.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace taxi (UA 662AQ) and a Sino truck (UBS 040F) transporting sand.

Fourteen (14) people died on the spot, all from the taxi. Four injured victims, two from each vehicle, are admitted at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.

Police visited the scene and investigations are underway. Efforts to trace the fleeing driver are ongoing.

Habibi, so, Mpigi road was blocked so that Museveni can have a “brief chat to listen to people’s grievances” & now some people have been on a road of less than 50 km for 12 hours?!

Uganda needs a new crop of leaders who are in touch with people’s reality. A crop that loves Pan-Africanism, but most importantly, know that blocking a busy road for that long means that the patients being rushed to Mulago in taxis - which is how many Ugandans get to Mulago - will die! A leader who can eloquently talk about economic transformation, but most importantly knows that blocking a road connecting Uganda’s western end, Rwanda, Burundi, & parts of Eastern DRC to the sea for that long has a catastrophic effect for businesses & livelihoods - economic transformation!

Between the ‘80s & 2005, Museveni was actually that leader. These days, our man lives in a parallel universe from most Ugandans. You see it his actions, & you hear it his speeches. He knows we exist, he sees us, meets many Ugandans frequently, but he can't bring himself to the reality most Ugandans live by.
