Clemson University will add women’s lacrosse and women’s gymnastics as varsity programs in 2022-23 and 2023-24, respectively.

I’m so tired of the “blame the kids” for problems in youth sports:
- kids, play multiple sports
- kids, play for fun not college scholarships
- kids, don’t commit early
- kids, school 1st, sports 2nd

ADULTS - create a system that allows kids to do these. The one we got isn’t it.

I'm also glad that the press is allowed to approach these subjects. I know many people who have been fully shut down in the past. I saw one national-level coach take someone from the press aside and scream at them for something they asked in the mixed zone in 2012.

so many times i have been overly optimistic about how the culture of this sport is changing. the confluence of all that 2020 entailed makes me feel like maybe this time the optimism isn't misplaced

I'm so happy that these women finally feel comfortable to speak up and say what they feel about whatever they want to talk about. They are setting this example for younger gymnasts who need to know they have a voice and need to use it. It's the only way the culture will change.

Ten years ago, interviewing U.S. gymnasts was all about them nervously saying "I wanna hit four for four." Today, Morgan, Simone, and MyKayla all went OFF, on social justice, on Marta's culture, on USAG response post-Nassar...I'm blown away by how things have changed.
