Tackling safeguarding within Sikh spaces and aiming to bring inclusivity/change to institutes long held back by quiet whispers & unhelpful policies. #metooSikh
Hey! Have you filled in the first EVER survey on sexual abuse within the Sikh/Panjabi community?! If not, head to the link in our bio to take part. And if you need any support, reach out to us on Instagram, Twitter or via https://t.co/hdG1XxDLTp. #chuptoro#metoosikh
The Sikh community has been speaking out about these men from our Muslim community who target young girls in their community.
.
Keep an eye out for this on Twitter, this is EXACTLY how they do it, I see it in action all the time. We need to stop making this behavior acceptable.
@MRGSG5@SukhjeevanJSF@KaurVoices@SikhPA@SCUKofficial Mediation of these such cases is work that @KaurVoices does as a third party to offer fairness to the process & ensure the victim isn’t silenced as has mostly happened in Gurdwara related abuse cases. @SukhjeevanJSF you’d benefit from having us on board to keep things impartial
On one hand we have our own system of ethics and guru led maryada that we “should” follow, but on the other hand “the police have looked into it.” Yet when a girl goes missing from her home, every sikh org screams “protect our girls….” Where are the screams now?
@SukhSpeaks13 These are serious matters and without full information we must try not to be judge and jury on social media. It is a 3 year old matter that the police has looked into as well.
Yes. That’s 3 years these females have been languishing in this trauma just like we still live through the trauma of our ithihaas. Justice is never ever bound by time.

It’s horrible and it’s heart breaking. But if the men are revolutionary, well so are we! @JasvirMbe @sukikaurlioness @A_W_M_B@sahdaish @KaurAbuseNWork @NevKDephu
This is exactly why we are working on a policy/platform which ensures that we don’t allow such abusers back into sikh spaces. Transparency for all means protection for all.
My understanding is that they moved the Granthi’s (2 of them involved) to other Gurdwara.
Question: would you want to know if they were at your Gurdwara? How do you know they are not?
Why are they being protected? They took part in sexual acts in a GURDWARA!
If a Muslim man had done this Singhs and certain Orgs would be up in arms. All over social media, up on Sikh Channel. We all know it - not to take action now just shows what a bunch of cowards our community really is.
A woman isn’t safe in the Gurdwara! And y’all just chilling!
The uproar and sense of injustice we express when men from outside of the kaum infiltrate and abuse women from within our kaum is powerful. But where’s the same uproar when it’s men on the inside attacking from the inside.... We need everyone to speak up. We need it to change.
I don’t want to be told I am strong.
I want abusers to be held accountable.
I want systems to respond appropriately to victims of crimes.
I want society to change its acceptance of abuse.
