In 2025, we saw our share of ups and downs in the Indian markets, but overall markets have been resilient.

The US Fed cut rates three times. RBI followed with four cuts, bringing the repo rate from 6.50% to 5.25% by December. Lower rates improved liquidity and supported risk appetite.

Retail participation deepened beyond metros. Smaller states led household investment growth. SIP contributions climbed month after month.

PSU Banks rose 28%. Metals gained 21.6%. Auto climbed 21%. These sectors benefited from infrastructure spending, production incentives, and policy support.

SEBI rolled out T+0 settlement for top stocks, tightened F&O rules, and improved mutual fund transparency. The primary market stayed strong, 86 IPOs raised ₹1.71 lakh crore.

Budget 2025 abolished income tax for earnings up to ₹12 lakh under the new regime. FMCG and auto stocks rallied on rural growth support and EV incentives.

Real estate drew record institutional investment - $10.4 billion across 77 deals. Domestic investors contributed 52% of capital for the first time since 2014, largely through REITs and InvITs.

Nifty 50 rose 10.6%, Sensex climbed 9%, BankNifty surged 16%. A lot of foundational changes came into place in 2025 and have set up the stage for 2026.
