If I've learned one thing in 19 years of teaching it is that I cannot read minds and nothing can replace LISTENING to students. Listening includes hearing, looking at their body language, and just being quiet so I can hear what they're really saying.

Right now is not the best time to talk about programs, plans, data points, and “best practices.” It is time to support.
Just saw a list of rules for students during at-home learning. It said students had to be wearing shoes. There is no emoji that can adequately capture how INSANE this is. Hey grown-ups? You're making a challenging thing so much worse with crap like this. Stop.

Attendance during live remote instruction is going to be a struggle. Especially in environments where truancy was a challenge prior to COVID-19. When you rely too heavily on live instruction, you put students with limited access to devices and internet at an huge disadvantage.
