Young elephants believe a rope can still hold them, even when they're strong enough to break free. This conditioning, from when they were small, stops them from ever trying to escape. #Mindset#Psychology#ElephantFacts#English#Burmese#Burglish
No matter the obstacles, keep believing in your goals. Believing in your ability to succeed is the most crucial step. If you don't try, no one else will believe in you or help you reach your dreams. #Motivation#SelfBelief

Waiting for friends at one of the first rooftop bars I ever went to in #nyc back when I was on a break from college, so many years ago. @230FIFTHRooftop Sitting here again tonight, letting the city that never sleeps wash over me, I’m struck by how quietly and beautifully #time circles back.
I think about who I was then, and who I am now. How much has changed. How much I’ve grown. And how lucky I am to still be held by community - old friends, new friends, and people who show up for me in ways big and small.
My aunt called me the other day and said, “I can’t give you so much, but I give you metta.” Love. Compassion. Prayers. The kind of gift that doesn’t expire and can’t be measured. I felt it deeply.
Tonight, I’m sending that metta right back to this city, to everyone who’s been part of my journey, and to whatever comes next. Beyond thankful for this moment, for reflection, and for a life that keeps finding its way home.

Join Us for a Night of Solidarity & Support for Myanmar 💔 🇲🇲
My good friend Colleen has been leading the charge of this great event in NY, and I’m so honored to co-host alongside her. We’re gathering at Rangoon Restaurant in Chelsea to raise critical funds for earthquake relief in Myanmar - a place that means so much to me personally.
Since the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28 near Mandalay, entire villages have been destroyed. People are still trapped under the rubble. Survivors are in desperate need of food, clean water, shelter, and medical care.
While official aid is limited, grassroots organizations like Better Burma are stepping up and we can help fuel their life-saving efforts.
🗓 Date: Monday, April 21, 6-8 pm
📍 Location: Rangoon - Chelsea, 158 8th Ave, NYC
🎟 Tickets: Minimum $15 donation (100% to relief minus processing fees)
🍹Happy Hour Burmese bites + drinks (available for purchase)
Your support will help fund: ✔Emergency food and water
✔Mobile medical care
✔Hygiene & shelter kits
✔Relief access to remote areas
#Myanmar was once named the most generous country in the world three years in a row by the Gates Foundation. Now, it’s our turn to stand with them in their greatest need. At Webb Institute, where I work, 77% of alumni give back to support future students -generosity is something I’m lucky to be surrounded by every day.
As my mom always says, “Give while you can”. ❤️

Sagaing, the epicentre of the earthquake. Destruction is much greater here than Mandalay… local firefighter told us as much as 80% of the city has been damaged.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind messages after the devastating 7.7 magnitude #earthquake that struck Myanmar. My family and friends are safe, but the emotional toll is heavy. Everyone knows someone affected.
Official reports say over 1,600 lives have been lost in #Myanmar, and today alone, the death toll in #Thailand rose to 17. But the truth on the ground is far worse than the numbers suggest.
To add more grief, many of the historic, cultural, and spiritual sites have been crushed—monuments that held centuries of memory and meaning, now lost.
The destruction is so vast that even Myanmar’s military government—rarely known for transparency—is asking for international help. That alone shows how dire the situation is.
If you feel called to help, here is an organization making a difference: 🔗 https://t.co/VPcNfx3UyT
Thanks again for your support.
With love,

Reflecting on the recent passing of Henry Kissinger, I am reminded of a memorable encounter I once had with him. More than 10 years ago, when I was a young journalist, I had the privilege of attending a political event in which Henry Kissinger and other iconic diplomats were honored.
The highlight of the evening was, without a doubt, when I introduced him to the most special guest of all – my mother. She doesn’t know much about politics, but she made an impression. In her unique candor, she told him about the big book of his I have but never finished reading. He laughed and gracefully shook my mother’s hand.
Regardless of what you think about his politics, it's undeniable that he was a huge figure in US diplomacy. And this encounter with him only reinforced my belief in the power of understanding and the human element in connecting with everyone of all perspectives.
