@VictorPontis There's not evidence that riding scooters on the sidewalk is a serious hazard to pedestrians. In fact, in the study they conducted in Austin in late 2018, ONE single pedestrian was hospitalized with e-scooter injuries in the course of 891,121 trips.

@VictorPontis They’ve also given permits to a diverse set of operators and issued enough permits to achieve scooter saturation in a lot of the city, especially downtown.

@VictorPontis On the contrary, I think the scooter situation in Austin is pretty optimal. Sidewalk riding is legal and parking areas aren’t really necessary bc most sidewalks are huge, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to walk/ride/park as they see fit.
