Please Read this powerful letter to Sen Schumer demanding a vote on an assault weapons ban from my friend @samschwartz03 who lost his Cousin, Alex in the Parkland shooting.
Dear Leader Schumer,
My name is Samuel Schwartz. My cousin, Alex Schachter, was murdered by a 19-year-old gunman with a legally purchased AR-15 while sitting at his desk in English class, in Parkland, Florida.
I wanted to inform you that I will be leading a sit-in at the U.S. Capitol building starting June 6th, until the Senate votes on Senator Feinstein's bill to ban assault weapons. I am sick and tired of congressional inaction on weapons of war.
Since Sandy Hook, over 13.7 million AR-15s have been produced and the gun industry made $11 billion. By not passing the assault weapons ban after Sandy Hook, Congress has contributed to the mass shooting crisis in our nation by arming more mass shooters with AR-15s. When I was born 19 years ago, less than 5% of all guns made were AR-15s. Now, 25% of all guns being produced are AR-15s AND we have 100 million more civilian-owned guns in America. Meanwhile, we have nearly no federal gun control laws to regulate 434 million guns.
I helped to pass Representative Cicilline's Assault Weapons Ban legislation with bipartisan support during the last Congress. It was the first time the assault weapons ban legislation passed in a chamber of Congress since your assault weapons ban passed 29 years ago.
President Biden was ready to sign the bill into law but you failed to give us a vote on the bill.
1 am only 19-years-old and I live in fear of getting shot and killed anytime, anywhere. Our generation has been plagued by mass shootings and the carnage will not stop until Congress bans assault weapons.
Our generation deserves to see which Members of Congress are fighting for our right not to be shot EVERY single day. Until the bill passes both chambers and it is sent to the President's desk, you have the power to put it to a vote in the Senate. It took seven votes, six years, and three Presidents to pass the Brady background check bill.
The Allen, Texas shooting was horrific. I saw videos and photos of young victims with their brains splattered all over the ground after a gunman in tactical gear hunted them with an AR-15 style weapon at an outlet mall. I am asking you why that is not enough for a vote on the bill to ban weapons of war.
How many more Americans need to be slaughtered before Congress stands up to defend our lives? AR-15s should not have more rights than children. We need more than platitudes in tweets after shootings. We need a vote on the ban after each horrific mass shooting until the bill passes. It will become untenable for you to not act. America is hurting.
Last year, you told me and other survivors on Zoom that you don't have 60 votes to pass the ban. Let's find out with a vote. Let's find out which Senators are still willing to arm mass shooters with AR-15s. We have secured 43 votes for the ban and many Senate Democratic holdouts have already promised us they will vote for the bill.
Americans everywhere, specifically my fellow Gen-Z voters, want to know that their Senators are fighting for us and putting our lives over politics. A Fox News poll recently showed that a staggering 61% of Americans want to ban assault weapons. This issue will be a priority for us when we vote in 2024.
Too many of us have sacrificed our loved ones due to decades of Congressional inaction. We have been patiently waiting for a vote. We beg you to help us stop the American carnage.
You sponsored and passed the assault weapons ban in 1994. We urge you to champion and pass the bill once again.
Please, get this done. Fight for us.
With great respect and admiration,
Samuel Schwartz

Dear fellow citizens,
We, The B-52’s, are deeply concerned about the numerous new bills that promote transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists, which have been introduced in the United States. We strongly denounce these bills and stand in
BREAKING: Jon Stewart just completely destroyed Republican State Senator Nathan Dahm of Oklahoma on gun reform in America. Each and every point that Dahm tried to address was completely debunked by Stewart. Stewart made Dahm look as foolish as he and his republican colleagues really are.
My favorite quote was: “In every other place your life you want to bring order, but guns are the outlier for you.”
