FreedomSunday is IJM's annual global movement that invites churches to reflect on God's heart for justice, pray for those affected by violence and oppression, and take action to protect vulnerable people.
At around midnight goons invaded a residential plot around St. Alloys primary school in Mukuru kwa Njenga, violently evicting 15 tenants. They reportedly removed doors from their houses, stole tenants belongings, and attempted to rape one woman.
What makes this even more disturbing is that the plot owner had repeatedly reported threats to the police, with 30 OB numbers recorded, yet no meaningful action appears to have been taken.
How many warnings are enough? How many people must suffer before the police act?
Are goons becoming more powerful than the police?
The safety and dignity of Mukuru residents cannot be left at the mercy of criminals and impunity. The state must protect people, investigate these threats, recover stolen property and hold those responsible accountable. We must protect the rule of law before it becomes too weak to protect us.We demands immediate action and justice for the affected families. @IAU_KE@NPSOfficial_KE@DCI_Kenya

Today we perfomed during the "WHOSE TRANSITION" on climate Justice convening. The play highlited the lived realities of communities when power plant project are started.
Indeed Theatre is a meeting point between lived experience, scientific knowledge and political action.
After the death of her father, Stella and her mother faced eviction from their home when a local pastor purchased the property from a family member without their knowledge. Their fight to seek legal redress has borne little fruit and they live in constant fear, after allegedly receiving threats from the new owner. #SemaUkweli

Africans Rising strongly condemns the growing threats, harassment, and attacks against African people in Kenya.
Following recent pronouncements by President William Ruto targeting foreigners, Africans in particular, operating small businesses, this is dangerous and must stop.

Today, Mukuru Community Justice Centre held a community dialogue reflecting on 16 years of constitutionalism in Kenya the gains, the struggles and the promises yet to be delivered.
The 2010 Constitution promised dignity, equality, justice and socio economic rights. But in our communities, people are still struggling to access healthcare, decent housing, quality education, food, water and social protection.
What does a Constitution mean to a mother who cannot afford healthcare?
What does the right to housing mean to a family that were forceful evicted promised affordable housing and they have been sold out ?
What does the right to education mean to a child studying without basic facilities?
A Constitution cannot remain a beautiful document in offices while the people continue to suffer on the ground.
From Mukuru, we are demanding more than constitutional promises. We demand implementation we demand accountability we demand justice.

The arrest of Comrade Ombok is a serious threat to human rights defenders in Kenya. Targeting those who speak out against injustice creates a climate of fear and intimidation. We demand his immediate release and an end to the harassment and criminalization of human rights defenders.

Weaponising the criminal justice system against a rural community merely seeking information on the proposed NPP and a duty to exercise the inalienable freedom of choice is a new low. Free comrade Otieno Ombok. Free the Lenya 19.
Comrade Otieno Ombok, the community representative who has been at the forefront of the Access to Information campaign against the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NUPEA), was arrested on Tuesday morning while making a solidarity court appearance.
Mr. Ombok is currently being held without any formal charge, and the reasons for his arrest remain unknown to his legal representatives and family.
