@integritycdn@brenttyson@cspotweet Yes. The federal government will use this tactic for bill C5 too when First Nations protest. They will use public opinion to demonize. There's a rise in anti-Indigenous sentiment right now, but the Canadian government doesn't feel that it's as urgent as combating antisemitism.
@thepinkneonbird Nah, you don't see us as equals. You want the same laws? Sure, let's honor the Treaties. Sharing, consulting and consenting, TOGETHER. It's been pretty one sided eh? You see rights as perks you don't have, and that feels unfair because you don't appreciate what you already have.
@thepinkneonbird@nationalpost The Europeans did this to each other as well. They sailed over and did it to Indigenous populations, to a greater degree, but we should overlook this and praise the European settlers for it because the Indigenous deserved it. Sounds about white.
@erinotoole@Terrilltf How can you have a serious chat if you don't take him seriously? It's quite paternalistic to dismiss his lived experience as nothing more that polarization. There is a bias in this country, by design. People aren't ready to have a serious chat about it.
@HoleInTheIce1@robrousseau There's a rising concern with intimate partner violence all over the country, but keep believing it's only Indigenous men. You keep holding on to a flawed report to convince yourself that Natives are inherently bad and that Indigenous men and women don't matter.
@HoleInTheIce1@robrousseau They can't punish what they don't investigate. MMIW aren't investigated to the same degree as missing and murdered white women (the majority at the hands of white men). It's easier to make it a race issue (it's their problem) then properly investigate.
@Pattidbedwell They don't know what they want. Their default emotion is mad because they can't understand why their entitlement and superiority are being questioned. They're having an existential crisis at being exposed as average, mediocre.
@TareqHadhad@GGCanada Thank you for acknowledging the voices of Indigenous populations in this country and for helping to spotlight the recognition of Indigenous achievements. You are as sweet as your chocolates.
@_TrueCanadian@bingofuelpro@TeriMooring The Chiefs are just extentions of colonial government anyway. The system was created to spy on reservations, and to create more divisions within it. Some recognize this, some don't govern in a fair way.
@_TrueCanadian@bingofuelpro@TeriMooring Many Indigenous populations are now buying land outside of their reservations to build infrastructure. See, reservations were designed to be out of the way of the colonizers, and their residents needed a pass to leave.
@Terrilltf@mashakleiner@KatKanada_TM@X_lifeGail It's weird to see her residential school denials, her wanting proof of bodies, but she is fine with mass graves not exhumed near Auschwitz-Birkenau because of religious laws and ethical restrictions. She's not showing a reciprocal respect, it's hypocritical.
