I was born here.
America taught me how to speak,
how to think,
how to make friends,
how to understand the world.
English is the language
inside my head.
This is home.
I know that.
But Iran is there too,
somewhere.
Not as a memory.
I have no memories of it.
I know it through my family,
through food,
through old songs,
through names I have heard
my entire life.
Tehran.
Shiraz.
Isfahan.
Places I have never walked through
but somehow miss.
That is the part
I do not know how to explain.
I can understand Persian
better than I can speak it.
Sometimes I know exactly
what someone is saying,
but when I try to answer,
the words are not there.
And every year
that bothers me a little more.
My family crossed an ocean
and built a life here.
Because of them,
I got to grow up safe.
I got opportunities
they did not have.
I am grateful for that.
I would never pretend
their sacrifice was something
I wish had not happened.
But sometimes I wonder
what we lost along the way.
How does a country
that belongs to your family
slowly become foreign to you?
How does a language
that your grandparents spoke
become something
you are embarrassed to speak badly?
I am American.
I do not struggle to say that.
This is my home.
But somewhere inside me
there is also this other place
that feels like it should be home too.
And sometimes I feel
like I am standing outside of it,
with the key in my hand,
not knowing
how to get in.
X needs a SFW mode, so that I can open the app worry free while at work. This would exclude anything considered politically extreme, without excluding unbiased news sources
Life is fucking electric bro. Don’t fall for the doomer shit. Thats for losers and normies scared of their own shadows. Walk around like God sent you and smile at everyone you see. Spread light and abundance. Build things and take chances. This is the best time in history!
@Pricerrors And it’s absolutely necessary, if there’s a problem it’s not like they can tell us. Things like constipation and lack of hydration can go unnoticed until it’s too late even with these products
Ending all forms of welfare cold turkey would be insanely harmful. Yes a lot of people currently not only abuse it, but also rely on it. The purpose it’s meant to serve is relatively good, and if monitored and managed properly can benefit the majority of the population tremendously to the point where they are able to survive. Think of the elderly, or people who have suffered traumatic unforeseen losses in their lives. Without welfare, they wouldn’t be able to stand on their own 2 legs.
@shop is the worst platform I’ve ever used for online purchases 😭😭 why do we allow this abhorrent disregard for customer service to exist. So many producers use this medium to sell products, there has to be a better way!?
