@nikunj@grok how similar is the linked thesis to Nikunj’s “do this for the right reasons”
- respond in bullet pts only
- what would Aadil/Nikunj say together about doing things for the right reasons

I have this unusual take on AI and the future of work:
Knowing "what to do" is more important than knowing "how to do".
AI is basically solving all the "how tos"
But the "what to do" seems almost impossible for AI, because in most cases it's something that has never been done before (kinda the opposite of "how": smth that has been done a million times before and been present in the training dataset)
It gets even trickier if you add "why?" into this. Because the "why" creates the demand. It's the key pillar of any marketing/brand.
So the big picture here is no different from the past. AI will simply add an abstraction laywer on top of the jobs. E.g. when you use the calculator, you dont have to know "how to multiply", you only care about "why and what" and the calculator handles the "how".
The software 3.0 will abstract the "hows" away and leave you the "why and what".
Until AI is capable of solving the "why" or at least the "what", humans are safe.
However, if your job is about "hows", I would move up to the "what" area asap.
said it before and i’ll say it again, if your invoices look like they were made by a graphic designer they get paid 35% slower. they need to look like they’re made on an IBM thinkpad with shitty enterprise software. argue with yourself i have years of research behind this
Tldr: as with most things in life the answer is subjective to your situation.
Story:
My sibling & I grew up on my mom's $42K salary (educator) until we got jobs. The neighborhood/highschool we went to didn't have the best examples of what 'success looks like'. I first saw a handgun at age 15.
Today my sibling is a product designer in bigtech and I've worked in product across startups & bigtech.
For the both of us college pivoted our lives bc it gave us:
1. Exposure to what else life 'could look like' - you can't want something you don't know exists
2. Allowed us to get jobs at higher starting salaries at 21/22 than what our mom ended her career at
3. Meet some people that I still do business with and count as close friends
So IDK I guess it works for some & doesn't for others.
