Statutory Public Inquiry/ Tribunal #CHI - Terms of Reference
'Most important voice is that of the child' Public Inquiry
The co-lead of the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Paediatric Advocacy Group [@SBH_PAG]
said any statutory inquiry must have an in depth look at the overall care given to these children.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Úna Keightley (@UnaKeightley) said significant amounts of money have been invested into these services over the last number of years, but there have not been corresponding increased levels of activity in them
"Unless it's a tribunal, we'll have a very narrow scope, and some parts of the publications can be redacted, and the control of the whole tribunal must be outside of government", she said, adding that most important voice is that of the child's.

Why was Harvey Morrison Sherratt removed from the Spinal Surgery Waiting list?
Who knew about it in Children's Health Ireland?
Who knew about it within the government and when did they have that information?

The parents of Sophie Redmond, Eric Brennan & Samantha Redmond, want transparency regarding Phase 1 of the #Nayagam Report—an external review into patient safety and complications within pediatric spinal services at Children's Health Ireland (#CHI)
The family is calling on the Minister for Health, their local TD @CarrollJennifer to publish the specific section of the Nayagam Report that pertains directly to Sophie's case.
They would like to meet with Mr. #Nayagam to discuss the findings regarding the complications Sophie suffered following her initial surgeries.

Calls for a Public Inquiry into Children’s Health Ireland #CHI
We previously asked the Former Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to expand the HIQA review to include other services and concerns raised by families and to provide us with a proper space for engagement and transparency. This did not happen, now we see the repercussions for that decision. Families reading in the media about alleged unnecessary hip operations - @UnaKeightley

Survey Participation Invitation:
https://t.co/nnaNFmGd9n
The Phoenix Rising Network has developed this initial survey in response to concerns brought to us by carers and family members of those with disabilities in Ireland.
The collective findings will contribute to our ongoing research into the implementation of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
This part of the research solely represents the perspective of carers and family members of individuals who are over the age of 18 years with varying capacities.
Additional surveys, whose target audience include those with affected capacities, will be subject to ethical approval in line with the National Disability Authority: Ethical Guidance for Research with People with Disabilities, tailored to accommodate needs and be inclusive of how all individuals are affected by the Act.
The findings from this survey will help us understand how the Act is working in practice for Carers and Family Members of individuals with altered capacity. It will inform our position and submissions to Government on the effective implementation, improvement, and future development of the legislation.
Simon Harris has to bear a lot of the blame for this situation, Needless to say he broke promises again to the parents of all the children involved. He is a rotten politician.
