Senior faculty: when writing tenure & promotion letters, you wield enormous power over other's careers.
Want to align your letters with your anti-racist priorities?
A group of us who learned to disrupt anti-Black racism in academia at #A4BL suggest how: https://t.co/VkhKxl4Svs
@MaritaBarth Omg I think we live parallel lives! Excited to try these.
I’m annoyed they no longer have pockets, but I have a similar affinity for my Lands End long PJs.

@AlexSVenet @profprofMFL @katimorris_h @CarlaShalaby Yes, I’ve seen an excellent teacher do this. The same as a classmate having a seizure or low blood sugar - we work together to give that person the classroom, an adult’s time, whatever is needed. Also seen additional aide added to support the whole class. Not easy & important.
@drdanbradford When I got into my dream instance, we were immediately called out for being elitist ivory tower folks, and I’d like to switch but can’t recall the password nor change it due to system overwhelm and it’s all a little too familiar
@ecotillasanchez Even more horrifying I realized watching pandemic HS kids don’t even know they’re supposed to be locate-able. You just start one on Google classroom, turn in, and never look back 😱
@ecotillasanchez Then I started a One Note page (stored in SharePoint) to paste all the links to that document, and all the other Box, One Drive, and Google docs and sheets needed to get through the next 10 meetings on my calendar. End times are here.
@ecotillasanchez 😂 I had to call a live person to ask where to find a document, was sent written instructions, then did some hypothesis testing to conclude the document was not visible to me, so I printed out an email attachment that I am told matches the document I can’t see.
@psychoBOBlogy I think you’re on to something.
There’s a lot of details to keep track of across 4+ classes.
And it’s harder than ever to predict what disability accommodations you’ll need in time to get them approved before you need them.
Parent Teacher Conferences!
“PLEASE DO NOT COME unless we call to say your kid is really struggling. And then, please be in and out in 10 minutes.”
I can’t imagine that’s working well for anyone 🤔
@AlexSVenet No but seen these lessons become problematic 4 autistic kids. Perhaps: “Please use whatever fidget in whatever way helps you learn and take care of yourself at any time. Please do not use fidgets in ways that don’t help you take care of yourself or learn.”
