Thanks @FredHahnCUPE for the share. Excited to be quoted in the @TorontoStar in my role as President of @COPE_343 at the Labour Day parade yesterday, talking about austerity and the lack of affordability, and the growing unrest in our labour movement. ✊

[Fred Hahn @FredHahnCUPE]

Way to go @kbels @COPE_343 - proud and privileged to work should to should with you every day @CUPEOntario! From @TorontoStar today

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

Yes!!! Finally Toronto has made the right decision and voted in a Mayor who will make the change we so desperately need!

Take action to support Tri-Board Transportation planners, earning 19% below the average!

[CUPE Ontario @CUPEOntario]

Tri-Board transportation planners are the lowest paid of their co-worker planners across Ontario, earning 19% below the average. Help them get a reasonable wage increase so they aren’t forced to strike on April 3.

The election is coming. While we consider platforms and candidates, think about COVID, we had the security of a publicly funded healthcare system, one where people weren’t forced to choose between essentials,or affording treatment against COVID-19.
#votefordout #elxninjune

[OntarioHealthCoal'n @OntarioHealthC]

Doug Ford's government has announced their intent to privatize our hospital services. Privatization threatens the foundational principles of our public health care system.

Fact sheet here:

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

The next move by the @fordnation Provincial Government will be a very scary thing…I cannot fathom removing mask mandates when we are still seeing so many deaths in Ontario.

#covidisnotover #VoteFordOut #changeiscoming #vulnerablepeoplemattertoo

[Cynthia Mulligan @CityCynthia]

Here are Covid deaths in Ontario for 3 months in 2021 vs 2022

Jan 2021: 1658 Jan 2022: 1250
Feb 2021: 792 Feb 2022: 989
Mar 2021: 386 Mar 2022: (so far) 158

2021 = 2,836 deaths
2020 = 2,397 deaths (with 3 wks left)

Omicron has been deadly - but also way more cases

If we built compassionate systems, we wouldn’t need corporate “generosity” to fund #MentalHealth.

@andreamoffat Omg…I said this exact phrase to my 6 year old probably at least 4 times in as many days!

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

June 2, 2022 can’t come soon enough.

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

3/ This is a total hot mess, and the fact that @fordnation and @Sflecce waiting until 3pm on the Thurs. before return to school is scheduled is completely irresponsible all around.

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

Today is Thursday, kids are supposed to go back to school Monday. Parents are supposed to report to work on Monday. How are families supposed to plan for next week with one days notice?!? @Sflecce @fordnation

2/how are education workers, teachers and support staff supposed to turn around and change platforms for learning in one day.

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

Such amazing news! ✊

New hires deserve the same hard fought rights that their more senior counterparts enjoy. Shame on @hmecu for trying to pit workers against each other! #343solidarity #shame #NoTwoTier #fairDealNow #oflabour #canlab #hmecu

[COPE Local 343 @COPE_343]

2 Tier anything in any @copelocal343 collective agreements is simply unacceptable. All workers should be treated the same. @hmecu @copelocal343 Members deserve better!

[Kelly Belbin @kbels]

@COPE_343 Members who work the front lines as essential workers at @hmecu are facing massive concessions including cuts to paid sick leave. Unacceptable, especially in the middle of a global pandemic! #shame #oflabour #canlab #hmecu #343solidarity

[COPE Local 343 @COPE_343]

@copelocal343 Members have stood on the front lines as essential workers, working face to face with Members of @hmecu throughout this entire pandemic. Shame on an employer who thinks it’s okay to cut sick leave provisions in our collective agreement. #shame #paidsickdays #canlab
