@babyfeverbabe@QQ350152055 You often can, but you don’t. Women who gave birth literally yesterday don’t take a 24-hours old infant on the metro/bus. I rarely take cabs, but they are a necessity the first month or so. I live in DC with 3 kids and no car -relatives drove me home from the hospital each time.
@strollerno Do you have a car?
I don’t, and can’t imagine life without a stroller. How do you walk your older child to school with a 1 yr old? It’ll take you all day. We routinely walk 30-45 mins with our kids, not for an optional outing, but to complete a necessary, time sensitive task.
@utotranslucence And limit toys - 8-10 in the living room, 8-10 in the bedroom out at a time. The rest packed away where the kids can't access them, swap out toys every 1-2 months.
@utotranslucence Everyone tidies the living room together before kid bedtime. One parent in charge of kitchen/dining room clean up each evening. Bedrooms tidied Sunday night before bed.
@utotranslucence Yeah, I intended to do this - it's too disruptive to preschooler play IMHO. It's not linear - imaginative games turn into slightly different ones, toys are used in all different ways... not practical. Maybe when they're older.
@badoriginalist As long as it’s not right in front of their face, screen time does not count for newborns. 3 kids, binged a ton of shows on maternity leaves, then screen free until at least age 2. You can tell when they start to “notice” the TV around 4-6 months and you stop.
@kay_z67 Was 16. Snuck some alcohol with two friends. Right before midnight, one goes “Y2K!!” and insists we fill the bathtubs with water?! We do. Nothing happens. We paint a big mural on a wall of our unfinished basement and go to sleep. Great night.
@Utterly_Jean Yeah, plus family dinner, also an undisputed Good. So knowing 3 hrs is basically the floor made me feel a bit better about the 6 hr average.
