@DanClar58959317@Colin_O_Scopie@SafferTheGaffer@BBCNews It’s an existing word- you just haven’t heard of it. Look it up in a dictionary.
“femicide /femˈi-sīd/
noun
The killing of a woman or women.
ORIGIN: L fēmina woman, and caedere to kill
femicīˈdal adjective” (Chambers Dictionary)
@WFalangist@GhostStoriesEnd I’m a bit puzzled by the vague replies here. A public school is a fee paying boarding school, and a private school is a fee paying day school. And private education is an umbrella term for both.
@slopingpitch @RevRichardColes He’s entitled to react in whatever way he likes whether he’s lived there or not. And maybe he’s spent time staying in tenement flats as a visitor?
@GlobeCats @GreybobCath @RevRichardColes These absolutely are tenements, and I think you’d be in the minority in central Scotland in thinking they’re not.
@theAliceRoberts@fionaricha48902 I was told this at school. I also remember at a primary school assembly, the chaplin cutting an apple in half along its “equator”, showing the 5 pips in the cross section, and saying they represented the letters of Jesus’s name. We were dumbfounded and thought this was amazing.
@tjester86 @LesleyRiddoch Well I’m sorry to hear that’s been your experience , but in this case you’re attacking a straw man, which if we’re talking about fairness, isn’t fair.

@ThisAmerLife This morning I listened to your podcast, which featured an ad for BP, with the slogan "and not or", and which referred to "keeping the oil and gas flowing from the North Sea". Is this in line with your values? Please don't accept ads from oil and gas companies.
