#OTD in 1882, Fleet Admiral William F. “Bull” Halsey Jr. was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. A Naval Academy graduate and naval aviator, Halsey led U.S. forces in the South Pacific and commanded Third Fleet during World War II.

His aggressive leadership helped shape the Pacific campaign, while his decisions at Leyte Gulf remain subjects of debate.

June 6, 1944. An American paratrooper jumps into Normandy in the dark and lands on the roof of a church.

By the end of the war he had been declared dead, held a funeral he didn't attend, escaped the Nazis, and fought his way toward Berlin in a Soviet tank unit.

His name was Joseph Beyrle. He's believed to be the only American soldier to serve in both the US Army and the Red Army during World War Two.

Beyrle was from Muskegon, Michigan. He joined the 101st Airborne, the Screaming Eagles. His buddies called him Jumpin' Joe.

On D-Day night his plane was hit by flak and he jumped early. He came down on a church roof, slid off, and lost his unit in the chaos. For a few days he fought on his own, blowing up a power station and cutting German communications.

Then he was captured.

Here's where it gets strange. A German soldier ended up wearing Beyrle's uniform and dog tags. That German was killed. When the body was found, the Americans identified it as Joseph Beyrle.

The army told his parents their son was dead. His hometown held a funeral mass for him. His obituary ran in the local paper.

Meanwhile, he was very much alive, being moved from one German prison camp to another.

He escaped more than once. One time he and two other prisoners jumped off a train heading east. They thought they were heading for Russia and freedom. They got lost and ended up in Berlin, where they were caught by the Gestapo, beaten, and tortured.

In January 1945, from a camp in eastern Germany, he finally made a clean escape. He went east, toward the gunfire. Toward the Soviets.

When he found a Soviet tank unit, he walked out with his hands up, holding a pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes, and shouted the only Russian he knew. American comrade.

It worked.

He asked to join them. And they said yes.

For about a month, an American paratrooper rode with Soviet tank crews as they pushed toward Germany. He used his demolition training. He fought. He was reportedly welcomed by a Soviet officer who was one of the rare women commanding a tank battalion.

Then a German dive bomber attacked. Beyrle was badly wounded.

He was evacuated to a Soviet hospital. Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov reportedly visited, heard his story, and gave him papers to get to the American embassy in Moscow.

When he showed up, the embassy didn't believe him. As far as the US was concerned, Joseph Beyrle was dead. They held him under guard until his fingerprints proved who he was.

He made it home to Michigan in April 1945.

In 1946 he got married. In the same church where they'd held his funeral.

Decades later, in 1994, he was honored at the White House by President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin for serving both countries.

And the last twist. His son, Joseph Beyrle II, grew up to become the United States Ambassador to Russia.

HERE'S HOW TO WIPE ALL OF IT:

The energy you feel has nothing to do with calories:

- Focus on hydration and movement and you'll have 2 to 4 times more energy than if you focus on what to eat. That's a guess, not a study
- Go do 100 burpees. You're tired and sweating, and you just created energy
- Cold water works the same way: a reliable source of adrenaline release
- The energy you have walking out of a cold shower couldn't have been caloric. It's adrenaline

6 minutes of all-out work per week is enough:

- 30 seconds all out / 30 seconds rest for at least 4 rounds, 1-2 days a week
- Or 20 seconds all out / 40 seconds rest for 6-8 rounds - the extra rest keeps quality extraordinarily high
- Or 1 minute sprints with 1-3 min rest between, 4-6 rounds
- Gauge rest by breathing, not heart rate: once you are back to nasal only, wait another 30 seconds and go
- Past 3-4 days a week you add excess fatigue plus endocrine and sleep problems

Marty Gabala compared 6 total minutes of work per week to 180 minutes and saw equal or greater VO2 max improvements.

Tim Allen spent over a year reading the Old Testament page by page, in four languages. A priest and a rabbi gave him one rule: don’t hunt for meaning, let it come to you.

The book that hit him hardest was Job.

Not because it answers “why do cruel people thrive while good people suffer?” Because it refuses to.

He compared it to a magician who wouldn’t reveal his newspaper trick: if I show you, you’ll call it stupid, and the magic dies.

That’s God’s answer to Job. You weren’t there when I set the stars moving. You couldn’t follow the explanation if I gave it.

But what stayed with Tim wasn’t the anger. It was the amazement. That this small, stubborn creature still looks up and asks “why?”

And then asks, “how can I help?”

Maybe that second question is the whole point.

Joe Rogan’s friend told him something in his 20s that most people spend their whole lives missing:

“The only amount of money you need is enough to go to a restaurant and not care what things cost.”

Not a mansion. Not a Lambo. Just getting the “bill monkey” off your back.

When Rogan got his first $150k deal, he said he physically felt lighter. Then he got the dream apartment with a loft and a pool table, and within months it felt exactly like his crappy place in New York. Just “home.”

Psychologists call this hedonic adaptation. Your brain adjusts to upgrades in weeks, but the anxiety of paying for them stays for years.

Bills paid. Good bed. Cook your own food. Then pour everything into work you actually love.

That’s the whole game.

Lt. Col. Donovan personally led the assaulting wave in an attack upon a very strongly organized position, and when our troops were suffering heavy casualties, he encouraged all near him by his example; moving
among his men in exposed positions, reorganizing decimated platoons, and accompanying them forward in attacks. When he was wounded in the leg by machine gun bullets, he refused to be evacuated and continued with his unit until it withdrew to a less exposed position.

Dear young people,
Nobody warns you how quiet ruin is.
It never arrives with sirens or a sudden collapse. It shows up disguised as comfort. It arrives in the invitations you were too weak to decline, the discipline you delayed until "next Monday," and the rooms full of people who laughed with you while silently anchoring you to the floor.
Remember this rule, carved into every regret I have ever witnessed:
Easy choices lead to an excruciating life.
Difficult choices build an untouchable life.
The hard path is painful upfront. Waking up when it hurts. Holding standards when everyone around you is taking shortcuts. Choosing focus over cheap dopamine. But that pain expiresand it leaves behind freedom, clarity, and peace.
The easy path gives you instant pleasure, but charges interest forever.
And look closely at the hands currently shaping your future. The people around you are not neutral bystanders; they are either elevating your ceiling or normalizing your drift. If your circle makes discipline feel awkward and mediocrity feel comfortable, you do not have friends—you have an alibi.
Your future isn’t an accident waiting to happen. It is the mathematical sum of what you refuse to compromise on today.
Choose hard now. Or regret will choose it for you later.

On December 28, 1944, the USS John Burke was struck by a Japanese kamikaze near Mindoro in the Philippines. The impact ignited the ammunition ship’s massive cargo of explosives, triggering a catastrophic blast that destroyed the vessel almost instantly.

The explosion could reportedly be seen more than 35 miles away, and all 100 men aboard were killed. The devastating moment was captured on film and remains one of the most powerful non-nuclear explosions ever recorded.

THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO DISCOVER
THIS SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT CLOVES

1. Cloves aren't a spice-they're a biochemical cheat code. With 300x the antioxidants of blueberries, they trigger a full-body detox most people pay thousands for.
2. Soak 4 cloves overnight, drink on an empty stomach. By Day 3 bloating vanishes; by Day 14, hidden inflammation markers silently plummet.
3. Never drink it alone. Stacking clove with cinnamon and lemon creates a metabolic synergy that accelerates fat-burning and blood-sugar control.
4. Stop using chemical mouthwash. Clove water destroys bad-breath bacteria at the root while healing bleeding gums within 72 hours.
5. Eugenol in cloves activates digestive enzymes that boost nutrient absorption by 50%, turning your food into pure cellular fuel instead of stored fat.
6. Drink it before bed for a hidden advantage. It naturally spikes melatonin while your liver undergoes a deep overnight detox flush.

Stunning Research:

Creatine isn’t just a gym supplement.

In a 12-week Texas A&M trial, adults 45–65 taking 10 grams a day gained lean tissue and strength even WITHOUT a workout plan.

Add lifting, cardio, and a small calorie cut, and they kept muscle while losing more fat than exercise and diet alone.

Blood sugar, cholesterol, and memory markers moved too.

With training and creatine even bigger gains. But 10 g of creatine monohydrate did a lot more than most people expect.
