@valvesoftware TF2 has been the overall best game I've ever played. So many memories, friends across the world that I still catch up with. Countless hours. #savetf2
@goldenaxebremen Amazing animation, but like with all animations: think about whether the user wants to see them again and again and again. First time: woooa. 100th time: maybe to slow/to obstructive.
@BradMcdavitt Just cut out simple but "big" parts/scenarios. Example: No desert stuff. No aquatic animals. No quests/scenarios from your "corporation" (whatever it is called).
Bonus: enable aquatic animals (so they exist) but don't enable interaction with them (they are just "there"),...
Is there anything like JuliaPy/PyCall already for @v_language (some fast and convenient way to call python code from V and vice-versa)? Could be really helpful for various projects that aren't reasonable to try in/with V right now.
@BradMcdavitt This leads to something like this (sorry, just a top down "map" view). More sophisticated ways to handle errosion/river generation/etc. will of course lead to much better results, but it's easy and fast 👌🏻
@BradMcdavitt A really simple (implementation-wise) idea is to pick a (higher-ground) starting point and just travel the river down the slope (e.g. look for the lowest neighboring cell, and repeat that) until you reach some other kind of water (or predefined lowest point).
@BradMcdavitt And one additional thought: that also opens up more possibilities for "full creative" mode (where the user starts with a blank map), versus "scenario" mode where you could provide procgen maps that are pre-seeded to your liking (e.g. "A desert challenge", "The great reef", ...)
@BradMcdavitt Assuming the increased cost comes from procedurally generating everything on the fly, one possible way is to simply ship the game with (e.g.) 100 pre-calculated "big-island-seeds". 0 time to generate and the user can cycle through a live preview to pick one s/he likes. 👍🏻
So @TwitterSupport... going to do anything about the DMCA abuses happening on your platform yet?@SophNar0747 got similar threats.
Is it not clear the system is being abused?
Everyone else, please RT and scream at @Twitter/@TwitterSupport and hopefully we can stop this idiocy.
@KenneyNL@Sneakyness Just remember: it's fine to keep the link so readers know what you are talking about, but at least make sure it's a no-follow!! You don't want to give that person a high-quality backlink.
If you have footage of any kind of the shooting incident in the inner city of Vienna – please upload it on this link – DON’T share it on social media! This way you can support us! https://t.co/FQ2he2MMPs #0211w
@reduzio Seems like an easy decision. (1) Easier integration of a third party solution that many devs already want to use, (2) additional donations for you, (3) no inherent drawbacks (everyone who doesn't need it just doesn't use it - like all the other assets one doesn't use)
