Working at @GNM_Nuernberg today on an engraving of Rudolf II's entry into Regensburg of 1594 which among Rudolf himself also prominently features his bodyguards. Thus far, I've only seen reproductions of it, so I'm exited to finally lay eyes on the original & study every detail.

The end of an era: After almost 320 consecutive years in print, Europe's oldest, still running printed daily announced yesterday that it will discontinue its print issues and become a full online paper mid-2023. The first issue appeared in 1703 as 'Wienerisches Diarium'.

According to her publisher, Hilary Mantel has passed away. I haven't read her work until fairly recently, but immediately fell in love with her stories and characters. What a fine, accomplished writer, a true master of her craft, may she rest in peace.

@Emmaforsbergs I also find that the initial letter looks like a 'd' rather than an 's' at first glance. However, and I might be completely wrong here, the longer I look at it, the more I read 'schaln', meaning 'Schale' (bowl, dish). The spelling is a bit off, but I think it fits the context.
