🚨 DOGFIGHTING RING BUSTED IN EAST TEXAS 🚨
Newton County deputies say 45 people were arrested and more than $73,000 was seized after an overnight raid on a dogfighting operation off FM 1004.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies served a warrant around 9:50 p.m. Saturday and walked into an active dogfight happening inside a pit built specifically for it. Most of the people on scene tried to run into the woods, but officers used heat-sensing drone technology to track them down.

🐶 Two dogs were pulled from the fighting pit and rushed to an emergency vet.

Authorities say they also towed around 40 vehicles, many of which had drugs, guns, and cash inside. The investigation — called “Operation Pitbull” — has been underway since March after multiple tips about dogfighting in the area.

🌈 Gay marriage is here to stay: The Supreme Court on Monday declined an opportunity to overturn its landmark precedent recognizing a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

Instead, the court denied an appeal from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky county clerk who now faces hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages and legal fees for refusing to issue marriage licenses after the court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges allowed same-sex couples to marry.

We honor the legacy of Former First Lady of Aggieland, Reveille IX, who passed away this weekend. We are deeply grateful for her years at Texas A&M, where she exemplified our core values of leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service. Her lasting presence and spirit brought the Aggie community together and made an incredible impact on our campus.

Rest in peace, #MissRev.

Texas A&M University President General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III is a Texas native, a former dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and the 20th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. The retired four-star general received numerous awards and decorations during his 40+ years of service.

He was a military pilot who served in a role in the CIA as Associate Director for Military Affairs. He's the son of a World War II veteran and comes from a family of Aggies.

One of his first statements upon taking over leadership of the university was this: "I believe every Aggie must have a voice, that each of you is critically important to our success and that you deserve to be treated with respect."

On Friday, he will step down from his role at A&M.
