We are delighted that, despite the Race Disparity Report, 300 people joined us today, from the UK and all over the world, to discuss the importance of decolonization in HE and of fighting structural racism 1/
The first issue of Stolen Tools, the Anti-Racist journal, will launch on June 20th 📆
Stolen Tools was inspired by a reflective practice group on racism by young academics in the Health Inequalities Research Group at @KingsCollegeLon
In June 2020, our branch endorsed @kcldecol statement for Black lives. We welcomed KCL's professed commitment to eradicating racism, but we called on it to address the continuing legacies of colonialism and imperialism within and outside our campuses that perpetuate racism.
That was an amazing turnout of UCU & UNISON members as well as students today ✨🤗
Tomorrow we'll keep up the fight and momentum with our pickets across KCL.
Teachouts at Strand start at 10:30am, featuring @ewanmcg@KCLFemSoc and @decolonisekcl.
Join us!! ✊✊✊

Really looking forward to speaking about our research on decolonising geography in Africa next week! In person at the Institute of Historical Research - I’ll be a double act with @NeateH! @LGHGseminar @DecoloniseGeog@kcldecol
Despite Goldsmiths professed commitment to decolonisation, the 9 academic staff who’ve received dismissal notices have been targeted precisely because they work on subjects like Islamic history, the Modern Middle East, Arab and African migrant literature. Support @GoldsmithsUCU!
The detail of who has been targeted for redundancy at Goldsmiths and what it means in the bigger picture is laid out in this statement

We're tired, angry, but we're not going anywhere. Among all the amazing topics & activities in week 3: a cross-branch rally on the next steps with Prof Kapur TBC, a carnival of resistance, a rally against war & racism and last but not least our strike with @KCLUnison & @kcl_ssts!
In summer 2020 15k KCL students signed a petition calling for removal of Guy's statue who made millions through the slave trade. The interim Principal said students should "walk around the statue" instead. Is colonialism still alive at KCL? Come at 11:30am tomorrow to find out!
So proud of my Postcolonial Political Economy students who've organised an Anti-Colonial Film Club & are moving it to @maydayrooms not to cross the picket line! They'll also be watching 2 newsreel propaganda shorts by the Black Panther Party: Huey! & Off the Pigs #OneOfUsAllOfus
Calling all strikers and students! Our wonderful students are holding a special film screening of Agnes Varda’s documentary: Black Panthers, 1968 at @maydayrooms Feb 16th @6pm! Part of the 'Anti-Colonial Film Club' All welcome, no pickets will be crossed!✊🏾
We're ready for a week of strike, pickets, debates, music, poetry, quizzes, games, love and organising for the future we want! We want to win on both #USS and #FourFights, and together we will! Please come along ✊🏽♥️ #OneOfUsAllOfUs@ucu
Are you a student at Kings? Undecided on whether to support the @ucu (and soon @KCLUnison) strike? Here are a few questions we suggest you ask @KingsCollegeLon management to make up your mind... We hope to see you on the picket line! ✊🏽♥️ #OneOfUsAllOfUs
