It is with great pleasure that we announce Javon Jones as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach at Highland Springs High School.

A proud graduate of the Highland Springs Class of 2011, Coach Jones returns home after establishing himself as one of the top girls basketball coaches not only in the Central Region, but across the Commonwealth of Virginia. His passion for developing student-athletes and building championship culture makes him an outstanding fit to lead the Springers program.

We are excited to welcome Coach Jones back to Highland Springs and look forward to the future of our Girls Basketball program under his leadership.

The announcement of our amazing Girls Basketball Coach, Franklin Harris, is a tough one for me, but also a joyous moment.

Coach Harris has dedicated the last 20 years of his life and coaching career to building Highland Springs Girls Basketball into one of the premier programs in the state of Virginia. With over 400 wins, he stands as one of the most decorated girls basketball coaches in the history of the 804 and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

His impact goes far beyond the wins and championships. Coach Harris has touched the lives of countless student-athletes, coaches, and members of our school community. Today, we simply want to say thank you for everything, Coach.

As a Highland Springs Wall of Fame member, Coach Harris will always hold a special place in the history of our school and in my heart personally. The conversations, mentorship, and love you have shown me and my family mean more than words can express.

While Coach Harris is retiring from coaching, we are fortunate that he will still be around supporting and helping with Highland Springs Athletics in different ways.

Thank you for everything, Coach Harris. Your legacy at The Springs will live on forever. Once a Springer, always a Springer.

Highland Springs closed out Day 1 of the Showcase with a 53–45 win over Hampton. Despite the loss,

Hampton’s Zuriel Pendleton-Morant earned Game MVP honors after posting 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Highland Springs was led by Kaelyn Taylor, who was named Game MVP for the Springers, finishing with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in a strong all-around performance.

Day 2 of the Showcase tips off tomorrow morning, starting with TPLS vs. Bishop O’Connell at 11:00 a.m.
