Removing newborns under 1yo seems logical given congenital abnormalities, which result in very short lives, especially as the US has a higher infant mortality rate than comparable countries. This doesn't impact older kids, so why skew data?

According to reports from Johns Hopkins and The New England Journal of Medicine using data from the CDC, "firearm-related injury" passed "motor vehicle crash" as the leading cause of death in children and adolescents in 2019. Not that hard to use Google.
